Haimi
Haimi was a Finnish design furniture manufacturer founded in 1943 by Gunnar Haimi. Haimi was one of the most well-known furniture manufacturers of its time and the company had its own factory in Helsinki. Haimi focused on manufacturing and marketing modern and high-quality furniture.
Haimi’s main designer was Yrjö Kukkapuro and they were also the biggest manufacturer of Kukkapuro‘s furniture designs until the early 1980s. Haimi also manufactured designs by Tobia Scarpa, Joe Colombo and Marcel Breuer under license. Haimi decided to close down the family company in 1980 due to not finding a successor. At that time, the company's staff decided to acquire the company operations for themselves and changed the company's name to Avarte.
